Writing on how
people actually decide.

Twenty-five years of commercial observation, written down. On buyer psychology, cross-cultural selling, commercial leadership, and the structural reasons most sales training stops working by the third month. No listicles. No motivational content.

"Buyers do not decline because they misunderstood your product. They decline because you misunderstood their risk."

Why deals stall at the final stage — and why "budget" is almost never the reason.

Late-stage stalls are recorded as budget or timing in the overwhelming majority of CRMs. Both are usually the polite version of something else entirely — an unresolved risk the buyer could not articulate and the seller never surfaced. This piece examines what is actually happening, and what to ask instead.

What a decline sounds like when directness is discourteous

In several of the markets British and European firms most want to enter, a clear "no" is rarely delivered as one. Teams read continued warmth as continued interest, and forecast accordingly. This piece covers the signals that are actually being sent.

The most expensive thing a sales manager can do is rescue the deal

It closes. The quarter is saved. And the seller learns nothing, the dependency deepens, and the same intervention will be required next time. On why intervention feels like leadership and functions as its opposite.

Satisfaction scores measure the room, not the result

Sales training is almost universally evaluated on how participants felt at the end of it. That number has no established relationship to commercial outcome. On what to measure instead, and when.

You cannot delegate intuition. You can only delegate what you have written down

Founders who try to document their own commercial approach almost invariably produce process descriptions rather than judgement models. On why the valuable material is in the decisions, and why it is so hard to see from the inside.

Asserted value invites price comparison. Constructed value does not

The habit of discounting to close is usually treated as a discipline problem. It is more often a construction problem — value presented rather than built, and therefore always comparable on the one axis the buyer can measure.

Translation converts your words, not your credibility

Localised materials are necessary and nowhere near sufficient. Credibility is constructed differently in every market, and the commercial logic underneath the pitch usually needs rebuilding rather than rendering.

Article content required — and a recommended writing plan

The six cards above are suggested article subjects, not written articles. Each is drawn directly from positions already stated across the site, which means the intellectual work is largely done — what remains is writing them out.

This page is the site's SEO engine. The current website has roughly 200 words of indexable content in total, which is why it does not appear in search results. Six articles of 800–1,200 words each changes that materially.

Recommended approach:

  • Publish three articles at launch rather than waiting for six. An empty Insights page is worse than no Insights page
  • Write from real client situations, anonymised. Specific beats general every time
  • 800–1,200 words. Long enough to demonstrate judgement, short enough to be read
  • One article per month sustains the page. Fewer than that and it looks abandoned, which damages credibility rather than building it
  • Consider publishing in French, Italian and Arabic as well — almost no competitor in this category does, and it directly evidences the multilingual claim made elsewhere on the site

If sustained publishing is not realistic, say so now and we will remove Insights from the navigation. A neglected blog with three posts from eighteen months ago is a credibility liability, not an asset.

Email platform decision required

The subscribe form needs a platform behind it — Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Beehiiv or similar. Please confirm which, or confirm that this section should be removed for launch. Only include it if the monthly commitment is realistic; collecting addresses and then never writing is worse than not collecting them.

On Writing

Why a consultancy should give the thinking away.

There is a persistent belief in professional services that publishing your methodology erodes your advantage. The opposite is true, and the reason is straightforward.

Buyers do not hire consultants for information. They hire them for judgement. Information is free and always has been. Judgement is the ability to apply it correctly to a specific situation under real commercial pressure — and that cannot be transferred by reading.

So publishing the thinking costs nothing and proves everything. It is also the only honest way to demonstrate expertise before a buyer has paid for any.
